How is this different from the twill version of the same style?
The two share a shape but not a fabric. This version is cut in stretch denim, which gives the wide leg a familiar jean texture, visible wash variation and the weight most people expect from denim. The twill styles in the same family use a 98% cotton and 2% spandex blend that reads smoother and more like a trouser. If you want the wide silhouette to still look and feel like denim, this is very clearly the pair to choose.
What footwear suits a cropped wide leg jean?
The cropped length is designed to sit above the ankle, which means whatever you wear on your feet becomes part of the outfit rather than disappearing under the hem. Flat loafers, low boots and clean sneakers all sit comfortably within that gap. Taller boots work when the shaft finishes near the hem rather than fighting it. The 10.5 inch leg opening gives enough width to drape over the top of a shoe without bunching or catching. A slight heel helps.
